President & CEO, Sandia Foundation
In July 2016, Riis Gonzales became the President and CEO of Sandia Foundation. Sandia Foundation has three primary beneficiaries, the University of New Mexico, Dickinson College and charitable organizations doing business in Albuquerque. Mr. Gonzales has spent his professional career stewarding philanthropic funding to New Mexico's educational and statewide institutions. Prior to his appointment with the Sandia Foundation, he served as Executive Director of New Mexico School for the Arts-Art Institute and realized a permanent home for the School in Santa Fe. Gonzales also served as Vice President of Development and Advancement amid the New Mexico State University Foundation's $225 million dollar campaign; and as NMSU's Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences; Director of Scholarships and Stewardship, and as Prospect Researcher. Before coming to and during his tenure with NMSU, he was Senate Analyst for the New Mexico State Senate Education Committee. Before joining NMSU, Gonzales coordinated admissions and undergraduate advising for the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Mr. Gonzales received his undergraduate degree from University of New Mexico and his graduate degree in Communication Studies from New Mexico State University.
